Project Plan Services (PPS) has been selected by Yorkshire Water to assist with their IT department’s SharePoint/Project Server 2010 migration project. This work will enable Yorkshire Water IT to migrate their existing projects, resources and reports onto the latest production version of their Enterprise Project Management solution (EPM). Once complete, Yorkshire Water IT will be able to take advantage of the new capabilities offered in the 2010 version of EPM such as Excel reporting services, SharePoint integration and the many new desktop features afforded by Project 2010 Professional (and previously introduced features from Project 2007). For additional phases PPS will be on hand to provide Yorkshire Water IT with advice on how additional new capabilities within the 2010 product set could be leveraged to enhance Yorkshire Water IT’s portfolio selection and management processes.
PPS will specifically provide SharePoint consultancy and training for Yorkshire Water IT’s SharePoint application team in order to establish the necessary platform to deploy Project Server onto and thereafter will assist Yorkshire Water IT with deploying Project Server and carefully migrating existing live project plans and resources.
PPS’ Client Solutions Manager Richard Rymill expressed delight at being awarded the contract and welcomed the opportunity to work with one of the Region’s most important organisations who provide services to virtually everyone in the county. PPS, being located regionally in Leeds are able to provide nationally accredited expertise and experience on a cost effective basis.
Yorkshire Water manage the collection, treatment and distribution of water in Yorkshire, supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day and manage the disposal of about one billion litres of waste water safely back into the environment. To do this Yorkshire Water operate more than 700 water and sewage treatment works and 120 reservoirs and look after 62,000 miles of water and sewerage mains – enough pipework to circulate the earth! Yorkshire Water IT use Microsoft Project Server and Project Professional to carry out business planning, project and portfolio management.
Yorkshire Water’s Julie Hoyle IT Project Manager commented on the PPS engagement…
“PPS first approached us back in 2011 demonstrating a keen interest in assisting YW with our Project Server migration. They offered us free on site workshops which enabled them to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience, meeting all of our requirements to deliver our EPM Solution. No questions were left unanswered. This coupled with the fact that PPS are a local business and were able to offer an extremely competitive proposal, meant that the decision to choose PPS as our implementation partner was the right choice for us”
